Company Profile

Eastern Contractor ServicesEastern Insulation was founded in 1974 by Larry Sawyer with one truck and two employees. He borrowed money from family, friends and investors and set out to build a superior insulation contracting company. Throughout the years the company grew and flourished under Larry’s leadership. Eastern’s reputation of quality at a fair price spread throughout the building industry in New Jersey. Twenty six years later on February 7th 2000 Todd Sawyer officially became the new President of Eastern Insulation Corp. Todd joined his father at Eastern in 1994 after graduating from the University of Delaware with a degree in finance. To learn the business from the ground up, Todd began his career by installing insulation. This led to a position in customer service, then sales and then to Director of Operations. During the time he spent in operations Todd learned every aspect of the business. Eastern’s prior president, Larry Sawyer still works with Todd on a part time basis as a business consultant. Currently Eastern has locations throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Delaware. Eastern has grown from one truck and two employees to over 100 trucks and over 150 employees. Eastern plans to continue expanding operations and product lines as long as it can continue to provide the highest level of service and quality.

In September of 2000 Eastern Insulation was presented with the award for Insulation Contractor of the Year at the Insulation Contractors Association Of America (ICAA)’s 22nd annual convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hundreds of insulation contractors from all over the country submitted entries into Roofing Siding Insulation Magazine and were judged on overall professionalism and commitment to excellence. For the first time in 15 years the northeast region produced a winner. Everybody at Eastern is very proud of this accomplishment and will do whatever it takes to stay on top.

In an era of mergers, acquisitions, and consolidations, Eastern has chosen to buck the trend and remain an independent family owned business. “In a quickly consolidating industry an independent company can’t always be the lowest price, so it needs to stand out as the best. We are constantly trying new things and ideas to make Eastern a better company. I try to instill a sense of pride in all of our employees so that we are not forcing them to do their best, but so that they want to do their best. I want all of my employees to feel good about the work they do. A person who takes pride in their job will take pride in themselves. I try to foster a team spirit , so that the entire company has the same goal. At times this is a difficult task but I enjoy the challenge of motivating people to do their best and work together towards a common goal.” -Todd Sawyer
